Track Artwork Inventory Consignments

As a busy Artist you may be involved in several art shows and gallery exhibitions each year and may frequently lend artwork to Patrons on a trial basis, and to Galleries on consignment. You might also be renting artwork to corporations or individuals as part of your Artist business model. Lending and renting artworks are easily handled through the Consignment features of the Artist-Patron register.

Losing track of your artwork inventory is obviously not a good thing. Neither is losing track of where (and when) you have exhibited your work. Art shows usually won't let you exhibit the same piece more than once, so it can be embarrassing - or even cost you a place at the show - if you're not keeping track of your consignments. Where and when you have exhibited your work is also part of your professional resume as an Artist.

The Artist-Patron register automatically maintains complete history of all your loans to patrons and galleries and artwork rentals. When you deliver a piece of art, you enter a consignment transaction to record who the work is on loan (or rental) to, the beginning and ending dates of the consignment and the rental fees if any. Your inventory is simultaneously updated to mark the unit on loan as being "on consignment" so you don't accidentally sell it to someone else or commit it to a show when it is not available.

When the artwork is returned, you simply look up the Consignment trnasaction using a search screen, check a box indicating it is returned, and save the transaction. Your inventory records are automatically updated to reflect the artwork as available for sale, exhibition or rental again.
